description: Jared Carter and Joseph Wood first preached in Auburn in January 1833. Here Stephen Mack located his son-in laws as millers to use the natural terrain as mill races. David Dort prospered here as well as Almon Mack. Sometime after June 1844, the branch was moved to Avon near Rochester. The group became believers in the presidency of James Strang. A letter of Sept 1846 reported visiting all of the eastern branches. (source: History of Mack family of Michigan. )
